Google's Android Kit Kat OS: 10 features

1.The Kit Kat software underscores Google's ambition to ingrain its search engine and virtual assistant, Google Now, even deeper into people's lives. The Nexus 5 phone is the first device to run on Kit Kat, the latest version of Google's Android operating system.

2.

Understanding person's habits

It'll be easier for Google to learn about a person's habits and needs so it can display helpful information, such as an online post from a favorite blog or a suggestion to use Fandango's movie-ticketing service when standing in a long line at a movie theater.

When visiting a tourist attraction such as Yellowstone National Park, Google Now might automatically show information about geysers from the Web.

'We want to get to the point where you glance at your phone and it always delights you with what you need,' said Sundar Pichai, a Google executive who oversees Android.
3.

Improved voice recognition

With the release of Kit Kat, Google also has improved its voice recognition technology so it can engage in more meaningful dialogue with users.
4.

New search technology

Kit Kat also showcases a new feature in Google's search technology to fuse results from the Web and applications installed on a phone. For instance, a request for a certain restaurant will show information drawn both from the Web and the app for the reservation service OpenTable Inc.

Initially, only OpenTable and nine other mobile app makers have enabled this, but more are coming. This feature will also show up on other devices, including the iPhone, but for now it works best on the Nexus 5.
 5.

Use of Ok Google

With this feature, Google allows user to launch a voice search within the device. 'You don't need to touch the screen to get things done. When in Google Now, just say Ok Google to launch voice search, send a text,' claims Google.
 6.

Multitasking

Google claims that the new version of Android allows for better multi-tasking. According to Google, the system optimizes memory and improves the user's touchscreen so that it responds faster.
7.

New Phone App

The new phone app is meant to automatically prioritize the user's contacts based on the people he/she talks to the most. Along with this the caller ID system of the OS is now meant to surf matches from local Google Maps listing.

'Whenever you get a call from a phone number not in your contacts, your phone will look for matches from businesses with a local listing on Google Maps,' says Google.

 8.

New immersive mode

Apart from these, the Android 4.4 now boasts of wallpapers that extend through the notification tray and system buttons. Also while performing tasks like reading a book, playing games, a 'new immersive mode' automatically hides the status bar and navigation buttons.

 9.
Print photos

Kit Kat also allows the user to print photos, documents, and web pages from his/her phone or tablet. 'The user can print to any printer connected to Google Cloud Print and to other printers that have apps in the Google Play Store,' says Google.

Galaxy Round: Samsung launches world's first curved display smartphone

Samsung has launched the world's first smartphone with a curved display, a variant of the Galaxy Note which moves the Asian giant a step closer to achieving wearable devices with flexible - even unbreakable - screens
The Galaxy Round's 5.7-inch (14.4-centimetre) display has a slight horizontal curve and weighs less than the Galaxy Note 3, allowing a more comfortable grip than other flat-screen models on the market, Samsung said in a statement.

Its key features include a tilt function which allows users to check information such as missed calls and battery life, even when the home screen is off. Users can also scroll through media files by pressing the screen's right or left, the company said.
The curved screen uses advanced display technology called organic light-emitting diode, or OLED technology. Samsung said the curve will make it easier to grip.

Age Has no limit:Techie kids aged 12 and 14 develop apps!!!!Shravan & Sanjay Kumaran of Go Dimensions

Shravan Kumaran and his younger sibling Sanjay Kumaran are perhaps India's youngest entrepreneurs. Shravan, 14, is the president and Sanjay, 12, is the CEO of Go Dimensions, an app development unit that they founded two years ago from the bedroom in their Chennai home.
They make an adorable pair in their neat formal suits and shoes. And when they start talking, they have crowds hanging onto every word, often having them in splits with their experiences.
On September 28, they stood before the 5,500 attendees at an SAP event in Bangalore, and talked about how to ideate and draw up a business plan.

"You should have a strong idea, self-confidence , a good business plan and know about sources of funding," said Sanjay with the confidence that you normally see in much older people. And he then went on to ask: "Have you heard of dad funding?" The crowd roared.
In the past two years, the two have developed eleven apps that are available on the Apple App Store and Google's Android Play Store. The apps have received over 35,000 downloads.

Their first — Catch me Cop on the Apple App Store — was released last year. It was a game where a con escapes prison and a hunt is launched. There are chases through a desert, beach and a maze.

Plans and hopes

The two have made presentations at TEDx and IIMBangalore. They hope to get at least 50% of smartphone users in India to use their apps.

Comparision :iPhone 5C and 5S versus older iPhone 5......Worth to invest on??

iPhone 5C and 5S versus older iPhone 5
Apple's new iPhone 5S and 5C and last year's iPhone 5 are alike in many ways. All three phones have a touch screen measuring 4 inches (10 centimeters) diagonally, with a resolution of 326 pixels per inch. That pixel density is better than Apple's iPads, though not as good as Samsung's flagship Galaxy S4.

The iPhone 5 and 5S are identical in size and weight, while the 5C is slightly bigger and heavier. The iPhone 5S is identical in price to what the iPhone 5 cost when it was introduced last year, while the 5C is $100 cheaper.

Battery life is comparable. Talk time is boosted on the 5C and 5S, as is Internet use over LTE cellular connections. Video playback and Internet use over Wi-Fi remain the same. Like all previous models, the battery on the new phones can be replaced only by service personnel.

Main differences

The main differences: The 5S has a fingerprint sensor, a better camera and a faster processor, while the 5C comes in five colors and uses plastic instead of aluminum and glass for its casing.

Size:

iPhone 5S height: 4.87 inches; width: 2.31 inches; depth: 0.30 inch (123.8 by 58.6 by 7.6 millimeters)

iPhone 5C: height: 4.90 inches; width: 2.33 inches; depth: 0.35 inch (124.4 by 59.2 by 8.97 millimeters).

iPhone 5 height: 4.87 inches; width: 2.31 inches; depth: 0.30 inch (124 by 59 by 7.6 millimeters)

Video recording:

iPhone 5S high-definition (1080p - comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat panel TV) up to 30 frames per second with audio. Slow-motion mode records at 120 frames per second, which makes video appear slower when spaced out at 30 frames per second.

iPhone 5C: high-definition (1080p - comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat panel TV) up to 30 frames per second with audio. No slow-motion mode.

India's first solar park where????? In my Gujarat.....Charanka village

Gujarat accounts for 66% of India's total solar power. The country's first Solar Park came up at Charanka village in Gujarat in April 2012. The park at Charanka, spread across 5,000 acres, has 500 MW of generation capacity of both solar and wind energy.

Solar project developers like Alex Astral, US-based Sun Edison, Lanco Solar, Roha Dyechem and GMR Gujarat Solar Power have set up plants in the park. While 214 MW of grid connected solar power was commissioned at Charanka by 17 national and international companies, 10 solar plants having combined generation capacity of 87.49 MW have gone on stream in Surendranagar, 8 in Kutch (85 MW) and three each in Banaskantha (55.20 MW) and Rajkot (25MW), amongst others.

In addition to solar energy, the park also manufactures solar power plant panels and other related equipment. It also provides training to local people of Gujarat to work at solar parks.

The seventh generation iPhone

It’s that time of the year - the new iPhone is coming in less than a month on September 10th, and rumors and leaks are pouring on us from all sides. What should you believe and what not? One thing is clear - the Apple iPhone 5S will be better and more powerful than the current iPhone 5, so you’d better save your money and wait for it.

First, let’s make it clear that the new iPhone 5S will look just like the current iPhone 5. Traditionally, Apple is changing the design of iPhones once every two years, so a redesign is due only next year. Most changes will thus happen under the hood. We have summarized them all right below, take a look.

Samsung Galaxy Gear

nly time will tell whether smartwatches, such as the one Samsung introduced last week, catch on. As Neil Mawston at Strategy Analytics told Bloomberg News, "If you see your friend wearing a cool smartwatch on their wrist, you will probably want one, too."

But is the Galaxy Gear cool enough to fork over $299, even if it, uh, might lack a real purpose? For that price, you get a watch with a 1.63-inch screen, 1.9-megapixel camera, 4 gigabytes of internal memory and 512 megabytes of RAM. It links wirelessly to a smartphone to make calls.

For $300 to $350, Qualcomm is also selling a connected wristwatch called Toq. It comes with wireless charging and an always-on screen. The biggest maker of chips for mobile phones is doing this to show off its display technology called Mirasol. Sony already has its SmartWatch that syncs with Android handsets.

The SmartWatch 2 will reach stores this month, and can be used as a second screen for the Xperia Z1 smartphone, Sony said last week. Of course, there's also Apple, which has a team of designers working on a watch-like device, two people familiar with the matter said in February.

Apple has sent out invitations to a September 10 event to announce new iPhones, a person familiar with the plans said. And tech companies aren't the only ones banking on smartwatches amid a market saturation of highend smartphones.

Asian freight airlines, suffering from a traffic slump of six consecutive months, may be able to break their losing streak as device makers rush to deliver their new products from factories in Asia ahead of the Christmas shopping season. But as always, that will depend on consumers and whether they jump out of bed to buy these smartwatches, or instead, choose to slap the snooze button.
